The new school year is right around the corner and the Sabinal Independent School District has numerous events scheduled for our students, their parents, our employees and the community in the upcoming weeks.
High school football, volleyball, and cross-country athletes will begin practicing on August 1st; with volleyball at 4:00 PM, football at 3:00 PM and Band also begins on August 1st starting at 5:00 PM.
New teacher orientation begins on August 1st beginning at 8:00 AM; followed by substitute orientation on August 4th that also begins at 8:00 AM. Both orientations will take place in the high school library.
On August 10th, the public is invited to the annual Meet the Jackets event held at the Yellowjacket Football Stadium beginning at 8:30 PM. The fall sports programs will be introduced as well as the cheerleaders and band. New teachers will be recognized during Meet the Jackets too.
Registration for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and all new students to the elementary in grades 1-6th grade will begin on August 2nd through August 12th. Registration hours are from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the elementary school office.
New secondary students who will be enrolling in grades 7-12 for the first time should register at the High School office, beginning August 2, 2022 from 8:00-3:00 PM each day through August 12th.
The Sabinal ISD is accepting student transfer applications for the 2022-2023 school year. We are encouraging parents who want a choice of where their children attend school, to submit an application to the appropriate campus as soon as possible, so we can be prepared for the first day of school. Applications can be downloaded from https://www.sabinalisd.net/ as a convenience, Sabinal ISD will provide transportation west of Sabinal. Once we know our number of transfer students, we will inform parents of pick-up locations. If a parent and their child would like more information or possibly meet the principal and tour our schools, please contact Mrs. Beth Brady, Sabinal Elementary principal at 988-2436 and/or Mr. Steve Alvarado, Sabinal Middle and High School principal at 988-2475.
Elementary students in grades PK-6th and their parents can meet their teachers on August 12th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the elementary school. Secondary students in grades 7-12 and their parents will have an opportunity to meet their teachers on August 11th 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
Individuals interested in working as a substitute teachers should attend the mandatory orientation on August 4th from 9:00 to noon in the high school library. If interested please contact Mrs. Maggie Lopez prior to August 1st at 830-988-2472.
Sabinal Independent School District will greet students for the first day of school on August 15th. Free breakfast and lunch are offered to all elementary and junior high students. The cafeteria is open to all students for breakfast 7:15 AM to 7:40 AM. Classes start at 7:45 and release from school at 3:40.
Parents who wish to drop their student off in the mornings, should drop off at the cafeteria as the campus buildings do not open until 7:45 a.m. Parents who wish to pick up their student, should pick up at the elementary or high school buildings when school is released at 3:40 p.m.
