Sabinal brothers Brayson and Rankin McMillian, the sons of Mark and Stacy McMillian, qualified for the Texas Junior High Rodeo State finals in Gonzales, Texas. Brayson McMillian, an eighth-grade student at Sabinal Junior High School, qualified in breakaway roping, ribbon roping, and goat tying. This is Brayson’s second year to compete at the state level. Rankin McMillian, a sixth-grade student at Sabinal Elementary School, qualified in breakaway roping, chute dogging, and goat tying. Rankin McMillian also won the 2024 Rookie Cowboy at the Region VIII Rodeo.
The state finals are scheduled for May 26 - June 1, in Gonzales, Texas. Both brothers practice year-round and say they are excited to compete and represent the Sabinal community. Competitors from across the country are expected to be in attendance.
